3 Things: Ways to Upcycle Your Wardrobe
Upcycling is an important tool that helps extend the lifetime of your belongings, whether it involves repairing old clothes to make them last longer or adding your own designs to garments to make them more original. In a world where fast fashion wants you to buy new clothes every season, upcycling or making your own clothes can interrupt the cycle and bring slow fashion to the forefront. The Dogfish Diaries
Whenever I think about eco-friendly crafting, Dogfish always pops into my mind. This project relates to Earth Day, not just with its recycled materials but with its origin story. Once upon a time, I put together a social media post about recycled yarns made from plastic bottles and used Earth Day hashtags to join in the celebration online; this post led Rita Reed, the author of Dogfish Tales, to discover our shop. I owe this entire Dogfish project to Earth Day! Even after all this time, Dogfish is still my favourite creation, and completing a project using only recycled materials was a transformative challenge for my craft.
