Hello there!
Welcome to Edition #65 of In the Wool. In just a few months we’ll be celebrating 3 whole years of this newsletter, which seems insane to me. I’m very grateful to all of you in our crafty community and I hope we have many more years to come!
This edition has a little bit of everything: a brand new yarn, a few free patterns, and an exclusive sneak peek at our next yarn shop window display. So get the kettle on, put your feet up, and let’s get into it!
It’s always good fun in our yarn shop when the seasons are changing. Different companies release their new collections, and we have colourful deliveries arriving left and right. This week’s new arrival is Giggles DK, a multicolour acrylic from Wendy Yarns. Giggles has certainly brightened up our shop in time for spring. With fantastic colourways and plenty of yarn on the ball, Giggles is one to watch this season. Keep reading to learn more about this yarn and see a sample that we made with it!

March Giveaway!
This month we’re giving away a beautiful ‘Indigo Dreams’ notebook. This is from the new Emma Ball collection in collaboration with Janie Crow, a very talented designer who I’m sure most of you have heard of. The collection brings to life some of Janie Crow’s most iconic blanket designs, and this notebook has to be one of my favourites! If you have a premium subscription to In the Wool, you are automatically entered into our giveaway every month.

My main project for the last couple of weeks has been my crochet star blanket. I finally pulled the plug and bought a couple more balls of yarn so that this blanket can be huge. As the weather where I live is hot for most of the year, I figured this project can double as a picnic blanket throughout spring and summer so I wanted it to be a good size. The yarn is machine washable and can be tumble dried at a low temperature so I’ll be able to put the blanket on grass etc. without any worries. Here’s a photo of my progress so far; as you can see it just about covers my double bed now!
As much as I love working with this chenille yarn, it has caused some of the worst yarn tangles I’ve ever experienced. Our first customer make this week is a knitted cardigan which has been made by Lyn. Lyn used King Cole Glitz yarn in shade ‘Halloween’. This garment looks fantastic; I love how the orange and black work together to create such a striking pattern!
Our next make is a crochet blanket which has been made by Caroline. I love the vibrant colours, they’re perfect for spring. Caroline used Jarol New Arrival yarn for the main body of the blanket and edged it in Hayfield Baby Bonus DK. It looks lovely!
Next we have a bag and purse set which has been made by Tracy. Tracy recently bought a sewing machine and made this gorgeous set with one of our new fabrics from Rico Design. The print is so eye-catching and these items have been sewn beautifully.
Our last photo this week is from one of our crochet groups. A few members made a start on the new Coronation CAL from Sirdar which started this month. This photo shows their progress from Week 1, which started with a granny square; you can access the pattern by clicking here. I can’t wait to see how these fabulous blankets turn out!
Thank you to Lyn, Caroline, Tracy and our crochet groups for sharing your #babesinthewoolhull projects with our subscribers!😁
