This week in Yarn Corner we’re showcasing Woolcraft’s Shetland Heather Aran (£3.50/100g). This wool/acrylic mix comes in eight gorgeous shades, and is ideal for jumpers and cardigans - think warm cable knits. The colours are bright yet soft, with some vibrant shades and some more traditional Aran jumper colours in more neutral shades. The spin of the yarn and mixed colours give the finished project a tweed look, making it perfect for Autumn/Winter garments. On average, a jumper or cardigan takes around 6-8 balls of yarn.
When trying out this yarn, we crocheted the plant pot cover below in shade Morning Mist (Z009), and found that the yarn was soft to work with and created a sturdy cover. Overall, this yarn was a real pleasure to work with.
Whether you’re looking to create smaller projects or a complex cable jumper, this yarn will work with Aran knitting and crochet patterns for your next cosy make. With your subscriber discount, you can get Shetland Heather Aran for just £3.15 per ball. If you’re looking for inspiration, below you will find a link to a free pattern on Ravelry for a Viking blanket that we think would work great with this yarn!

But most importantly, she shares all her creative makes with us on Instagram 📸
Here we catch up with @eleanor.rosecrochet to talk about yarn, Etsy favourites, and finding inspiration…

In January 2013, we launched our very first ‘Learn to Crochet’ course thinking it would be a one off, but have run one or two four week courses every month since then. It’s safe to say, we haven’t had a dull moment! That was, until March of this year. <click here to read full article>
We came up with this pattern with stashbusting in mind! As professional yarn hoarders, we often find ourselves with little bits of yarn EVERYWHERE. This pattern is perfect for using up the small oddments you have in your stash. We just happened to have yellow, brown and green, but you could use whatever colours you have lying around to create this cute sunflower bookmark.
