One of the latest pattern books from Ricorumi, Funny Fall, couldn’t be more fitting for an autumn edition. Filled with adorable amigurumi characters in the finest seasonal shades, this book has already proven popular among our crochet community🍁
This yarn has been flying off the shelves ever since it arrived. Jewelspun is a mesmerising Aran yarn from Sirdar, an array of self patterning shades with the perfect seasonal colour palette. Check out the Monthly Maker feature below to see what our customers have been making with it!

Free Patterns!
As well as beautiful yarns on the market this season, there are some really great free patterns for hand knitted garments. Below are 3 free patterns for garments that we think would make a great addition to any wardrobe. The first is a lazy cardigan from Sirdar (pictured left), that partners with the Jewelspun yarn featured above. As you can see, the yarn patterns beautifully and the warm colours make this cardigan a cosy must have!
The second pattern is a vest from Drops Design. Garments like this are perfect for layering up in style for the colder weather, and will have long lasting use throughout autumn and winter.
Finally, we have another pattern from Sirdar for a jumper with a beautiful leaf motif running around it. The contrast between the motif and the natural, earth toned jumper make for a stylish seasonal sweater.

Our customers are loving Jewelspun at the moment, and we have two creations to show you from them.
The first is from Katie, who made the stunning elephant below using a pattern from weewoollywonderfuls. “The wool was lovely to work with. I added cream to the inside of the ears and a pink Pom Pom.” Thank you for sharing your make with us, Katie!
Next we have Helen, who was kind enough to share her latest project with us so we can see what this yarn looks like when crocheted up into a larger project. Safe to say, it’s lovely😍 Our customers often ask to see self patterning yarns crocheted up instead of knitted, so thank you for sharing this with us!
If you follow crafting accounts on social media, you’ve probably seen the wave of support for small, in particular handmade/craft, businesses. An endless amount of time and effort goes into any small business, and it is important now more than ever to support them as many face uncertainty during the pandemic. As we approach Christmas 2020, many are making a pledge to shop small this Christmas, as opposed to buying from larger companies such as Amazon. Below are a few items we’ve shopped small so far this year!
As well as purchasing, there are many ways you can support a small business that cost nothing. By being subscribed to this newsletter, you are supporting Babes in the Wool and allowing us to keep pursuing our wooliest dreams! If you have social media, every like/comment/share/save can go a long way, and leaving product and Google reviews helps small businesses build credibility online. The benefits of shopping small for you? Your items will be unique and handmade with love, and you have a great chance of finding personal and thoughtful gifts when Christmas shopping!
Feeling Adventurous?
Sirdar Adventure has just arrived in store! This beautiful super chunky was inspired by arctic scenes, with the intention of keeping you warm and snuggly in style this winter.

When we think of cosy handmade garments, for some of us the mind jumps straight to socks. And it’s true, there’s no greater feeling than pulling on a pair of hand knitted or crocheted socks, warm, comforting, and made with love. The cold nights will fly by for the makers getting wrapped up in lovely socks!
Below are links to two free crochet patterns, one for a pair of simple socks and one for slipper socks.
