With the end of winter finally in sight, our spring collections have started to arrive and our yarn shop is filling up with bright colours and soft cottons. This week we’re shining the spotlight on one of our new ranges called Coastal Cotton. This includes 2 yarns - Coastal Cotton and Coastal Cotton Ocean Mist - from Knitting Fever’s Queensland Collection. Let’s take a closer look!
Coastal Cotton was designed with spring projects in mind. If you love stylish colours, lightweight accessories and breathable garments, then this is the yarn for you. Coastal Cotton is an aran weight yarn that comes in 100g balls that are easy to work from. The bright colours in this range are perfect for bringing a breath of fresh spring air into your handmade projects.
The original Coastal Cotton consists of solid shades of which we are currently stocking 6 colours. These shades are great for a striking garment, and they’re really complimentary when used in a combination. I love that these brights are slightly different from the shades offered in our other aran ranges so you can create something fresh and different. Coastal Cotton Ocean Mist is the speckle-dyed version of the same yarn. With 4 vibrant multicolour mixes to choose from, Ocean Mist is a gorgeous self-patterning yarn.
Both yarns are made with 100% cotton. This makes the yarn super soft and smooth to work with, plus your finished garments will be cool and comfortable to wear. There is a subtle sheen to the yarn and it provides excellent stitch definition so it goes hand in hand with textured patterns.
Speaking of patterns, we are currently stocking 3 knitting designs that accompany this range. First is the ‘Lisette Sweater’, a vibrant garment with a retro vibe that will keep you smiling through spring and summer. We also have the ‘Georgina Tank Top’ which is ideal for layering in spring and wearing on its own as the weather starts to warm up. I love the use of stripes in these 2 designs; they really stand out and will add a great pop of colour to your wardrobe.
The last pattern we have is the ‘Madison Tee’. You can’t go wrong with a classic t-shirt design, and this piece is elevated by the contrasting edges on the sleeves and the bottom of the garment. Again, there is a playful use of colour that makes these garments more unique whilst also being able to go with any outfit. As Coastal Cotton is an aran weight yarn, it will work with any aran pattern that you have in mind.
So, if vibrant colours, soft natural fibres, and stylish garments are on your mind as we move into spring, definitely consider the Coastal Cotton collection for your next project.
