A New Kind of Yarn
For this week’s Yarn Corner, we’re bringing you a chance to try out a new advancement in making for babies technology. Say hello to West Yorkshire brand James C. Brett’s innovative acrylic yarn Happiness DK:
Happiness DK is a soft and silky baby yarn available now in 6 vibrant single-colour shades at babesinthewool.co.uk. Currently selling at £2.99 per, just one ball of Happiness is enough to make a full hat, jumper, or pair of shorts for a baby.
With an antimicrobial design and the perfect classic colour range, this line is my favourite new baby yarn. Stock up today using your 15% Off Yarn Corner discount in Edition #50.
This range encompasses a great classic colour range, with your usual lemon, baby pink, and lilac shades, as well as a lovely bright green and neutral silver grey. If you have a new addition to the family on the way, consider picking up a few balls and a standard double knit pattern to begin planning your first baby project.
Everfresh Acrylic
Each 100g/280m ball of Happiness DK contains 100% Everfresh Acrylic. Engineered by Turkish textile company Aksa to capitalise on odor-resistant technology, Everfresh infuses zinc ions into skin-friendly acrylic to add an extra layer of protection against harmful environmental toxins such as bacteria, fungi, mould, and viruses.
With regards to Covid-19, Everfresh has proven to limit the effectiveness of coronaviruses trapped in its material over time. This makes Happiness DK especially useful in crafting face masks or face mask covers that prevent the virus from spreading to others.
Here is a quick Q&A about Everfresh from Aksa:
Read more about Everfresh’s effectiveness as an anti-microbial yarn from these textile magazines:
As a result of the tests conducted, it was observed that the coronavirus had become ineffective at 97.48 percent in 30 minutes in the textile products with Everfresh.
Unlike spray or other products produced with similar methods, Everfresh has antimicrobial effects thanks to the zinc compound in the fibre.
Aksa Akrilik’s textile product “Everfresh” offers a solution to consumers’ hygiene expectations with its permanent antimicrobial properties and stands out by being environment-friendly and contains no harmful chemicals to human health.
Because Everfresh prevents microbes from sticking to its fibers with an infused zinc compound, Happiness DK garments will be less smelly and less dirty, requiring fewer washes over time. Fewer washes will save new parents time and energy, as well as use less water and energy overall, helping the environment.
The benefits of this yarn technology make Happiness DK ideal for baby makes, as it will provide an extra layer of protection. Knitting a full outfit could take just 3 balls depending on your baby’s size. Take a look at Happiness DK’s pattern line for more information.
