It’s official: Autumn is here.
How do we know? Because fabulous new yarns have started to arrive, of course! We’re kicking of next season’s must haves with a yarn you won’t want to miss from our Spanish supplier, Katia. Katia always has great things to offer when it comes to autumn/ winter yarns, and this year is no different. A brand new range, Arles Merino, has just arrived in store and on our website, so let’s take a closer look!
Arles Merino is a double knitting yarn with a unique history. It originates from the Arles region of France, where local sheep breeders have followed the highest of standards for over two centuries. There are many protocols and regulations for flock care which give Arles Merino its UPRA certification (a French organisation responsible for merino flock in Arles). Arles Merino is a mulesing-free yarn, meaning it is a more humane process for the sheep.
This yarn is made with 100% Virgin Wool, making it a very high quality merino. Arles Merino is also given a Superwash treatment to improve the fibre quality and make the yarn go further. It gives the yarn a surprising texture; you would expect a 100% wool to be a little rough or itchy, but this yarn is soft and springy. As you can see pictures below, it gives knitted and crocheted fabrics excellent stitch definition.
We’re stocking quite a large range of Arles Merino DK for the autumn/ winter seasons to give you plenty of choice when planning your projects. There are 5 multicolour shades and 8 plain shades that come together to create a well-curated autumnal selection. I love how these colours are vibrant yet a little muted to give them a more natural look.
8 balls of yarn will make a long-sleeved women’s sweater in size 12.
Arles Merino is machine washable up to 30° - do not tumble dry.
If you’re looking for a high quality crafting experience then Arles Merino may be the yarn for you. It’s an ideal choice for handmade accessories and garments, and will work with most classic double knitting patterns. Find your exclusive 15% discount code in Edition #76 of In the Wool. This yarn is one to watch for Autumn/ Winter 2023 - what would you make with Arles Merino?
