It’s been over a year since this yarn was first featured in our newsletter. When Sirdar’s Stories launched, it became an instant favourite in our yarn shop, and is still widely popular today. As this collection was created with spring/summer crafting in mind, I thought this was the perfect time to revisit and see what this range has to offer a year on.

The original Stories yarn was launched in conjunction with the Festival Collection, a wide selection of modern knitting and crochet patterns themed around festival goers. Stories is a double knitting yarn designed for comfortable, lightweight garments that will last. The yarn is made of a 60% cotton/ 40% acrylic blend that, with proper care, will guarantee your handmade garments stand the test of time.

There are 40 fabulous colours to choose from in this range so that you can create your dream garment with your favourite shades. Although the original pattern collection is themed around festivals, many of the patterns are also great for daily life, featuring sweaters, tops, and useful accessories. The patterns are very size inclusive as well so you’ll be able to find the best fit for any body shape.

Sirdar have also just launched a few new patterns for 2023: the Sirdar Stories x Summer Beach Collection. The collection features 5 new patterns, including colourful co-ords, coverups, and beach shirts. CLICK HERE to view new patterns!

So many of our customers have created fantastic projects using Stories over the last year, using both Stories patterns and other standard dk patterns. Here are just a few of our favourites…

The ruched front sweater above was by far the most popular knitting pattern for our customers. It’s a great design as you get 2 distinguished garments in one; just pull the cord and the shape of the sweater is transformed! This design is called the Second Stage Sweater- CLICK HERE to view on our website!

This make was made using a Stories knitting pattern with a different dk yarn. Sirdar have actually just made this pattern available for free- CLICK HERE to download whilst it’s still available!

I have also used Sirdar Stories myself, and it is a lovely yarn to work with. It’s really soft and perfect for crafting throughout the warmer months as it is a bit more breathable than other yarns. At just £3 a ball (not including your subscriber discount), there is a real quality feel to the yarn that gives you a luxurious making experience. Being soft and breathable is not at the expense of stitch definition, either; both simple and complicated stitches look brilliant in Stories DK.

So, if you’re considering making a garment or stylish accessory for this summer season, I would definitely recommend giving Sirdar Stories a look over. You’ll find a range of shades and patterns that often goes unmatched by other brands and, if you have a premium subscription, you can save 15% on this yarn for the next 2 weeks. If you needed a sign to cast on your next creation, this is it!
